Inflammation is a natural response of the body to injury or infection, but when it becomes chronic, it can lead to a host of health problems such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and even cancer. Recent research has found that hydrogen gas, also known as a novel antioxidant, can have therapeutic anti-inflammatory effects in many diseases. But what if there was a more convenient way to get the benefits of hydrogen gas? That’s where hydrogen saline comes in.

A recent study by Zheng Xu et al. published in the International Journal of Molecular Medicine and Advance Sciences looked at the anti-inflammation effects of hydrogen saline in LPS activated macrophages and carrageenan-induced paw oedema. They found that hydrogen saline, which is more convenient to use than hydrogen gas, was able to reduce inflammation in both models.

In the carrageenan-induced paw oedema model, the hydrogen saline treatment was able to reduce foot volume, infiltration of neutrophils, and the amount of TNF-α, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, in the affected area. In the LPS-activated macrophages model, hydrogen saline was able to decrease the level of TNF-α’s mRNA.

The researchers concluded that hydrogen saline exhibits a protective effect against inflammation and may provide a novel therapeutic approach for inflammatory diseases.

Hydrogen water, also known as molecular hydrogen water or H2 water, is water that has been infused with hydrogen gas. It is becoming increasingly popular as a supplement for its potential health benefits. While more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms behind its anti-inflammatory effects, this study adds to the growing body of evidence that hydrogen water may be a powerful tool in the fight against inflammation.

It is important to note that hydrogen water should not be used as a sole treatment for any medical condition and it’s always best to consult with your doctor before starting any new supplement regimen. But for those looking for a natural and convenient way to fight inflammation, hydrogen water may be worth considering.
